Elon Musk doesn’t care if people buy his ‘Blade Runner pickup truck’

Tech mogul Elon Musk gave more details about Tesla’s upcoming pickup truck in a recent interview with Recode. The executive director said he wants this to be a “cyberpunk and futuristic” vehicle, a Blade Runner truck and that he does not care if people do not want to buy it.

Musk has openly expressed his desire for Tesla to produce a van for some time. Last year he announced plans for the truck at the Tesla Semi event, and later said he expected the truck to be the next vehicle of the firm after the model and off-road. Last August, he said the truck was his “favorite” of all the cars that the manufacturer was planning to launch.

But in his most recent interview, Musk hinted that the truck is still a personal project that he does not expect to be a massive sales success, at least not from the start.

Personally, I am very excited about this truck. What personally excites me most is that it will have a lot of titanium,” Musk added.

The truck joins a long list of vehicles that Tesla expects to produce in the coming years. The Model Y all-terrain crossover is the next one that plans to launch the signature, although Musk also spoke of a high-density urban transport, a type of additional bus to the Tesla Semi already presented. Finally, Musk gave more details about the modernization of the Roadster.

” We already have the next generation Roadster, which will be the fastest sports car in many aspects. Greater acceleration, greater maximum speed, better maneuverability. It is important to have an electric car faster than the fastest gas car. And it helps mitigate the halo effect of gasoline sports cars. Therefore, I think it’s important to show that electric is the best architecture.

Consulted before the possibility of launching an electric scooter, like those that abound in the urban zones of California, the technological magnate responded: “That lacks dignity“.
